2022 Book List
2022 was the first year that I decided to save all the books I’ve read so that I could reflect on what I read. In total I read 38 books. I tried very hard this year to rotate between IT related books, leadership/ management, and novels. Here’s a photo of my 2022 stack:
Here’s a quick few I really enjoyed:
- Business/ Leadership. Super Mario: The story of Nintendo. I’m not a big video game guy but I can appreciate the classics (and the easier controls). I really enjoyed the ups and downs of the company and it brought me back to my time in Japan.
- Non-Fiction.-“ish” Killer Angels: I’ve read this one several times in the past and decided to pick it up again this past year. The story of the Battle of Gettysburg and the individuals who played their part in it. You can’t help but connect to the interesting characters.
- Non-Fiction. Extreme Economies: I love this type of book. Its focuses on nine different countries and tells a story about failure, success, and the future. An easy read that can be consumed in chunks.
- Fiction. Where the Crawdads Sing: You’ve probably seen the movie…but the book was so much better. I couldn’t help but feel sorry for the swamp girl.
- Fiction. Geek Love: A weird and strange tragedy about a weird and strange family. I’ve read this one several times and love how out there it is.
- IT. Cult of the Dead Cow/ Ghost in the Wires: Grouped these two together because they are a bit the same…a great history on early hacking communities and oftentimes reads like a crime/ escape drama.
- IT. The Phoenix Project: Recommended by several friends, reading I could emphasize with the main character’s frustrations. Might come off a bit corny at times, but it was very relateable and I was cheering for made up company throughtout the book.
